How Can a Brevard County Salon or Barber Shop Use AI for Booking, Reminders, and Reviews?
Put a working booking link on your Google profile, list your full service menu, and use AI only to draft reminders, replies, and service descriptions you approve. Get customer consent before sending texts. Keep the human parts of the business human. AI will not cut hair or build regulars for you.
How big is the salon field in Brevard County?
The Census Bureau's 2023 County Business Patterns lists 220 beauty salon locations with paid employees in Brevard County. The 2023 Nonemployer Statistics list another 1,465 salon businesses with no paid employees. Many are solo chairs, so every hour spent on messages is an hour not behind the chair.
How do you set up booking on Google?
Google allows booking links on a Business Profile. Each link must meet Google's rules:
- It must go to a dedicated page for your business.
- It must let the customer complete the booking.
- It cannot be a social media page, messaging link, app store link, or link shortener.
- Your profile must be verified first.
Google also lets barbers, spas, and similar businesses add a menu listing the complete set of services. Do not submit a sample of popular items.
What are the steps?
- Build a full service list with names and durations.
- Add the menu to your Google profile.
- Add a booking link that works on a phone. Test it yourself.
- Decide how reminders go out (call, text, or email) and capture consent at booking, with a record.
- Send one review request to every client, with no gifts and no screening.
- Reply to reviews in a sentence or two.
- Review the setup monthly, using no-shows and booking counts as your measures.
Where can AI help?
| Task | AI drafts | You check |
|---|---|---|
| Service descriptions | Clear, short descriptions | Accuracy and prices |
| Rebooking messages | A friendly nudge | Tone and timing |
| Review replies | Short responses | Names and details |
| Cancellation policy wording | Plain-language draft | Your actual policy |
What are the text and email rules?
The FCC says autodialed texts to mobile phones need consent, that commercial texts need written consent, and that informational texts may rely on oral consent. A reminder and a promotion can be treated differently. A customer can opt out in any reasonable manner at any time. Marketing email also has opt-out rules (see Fruxd's guide to CAN-SPAM). Ask an attorney how your messages are classified.
What this won't do
AI will not fill your chair, and it will not guarantee fewer no-shows. It does not know your clients. Do not use AI to invent client photos or testimonials.

FAQ
Can I use social media as my booking link?
No. Google's link policy does not allow social media sites as business links.
Can I text appointment reminders?
Maybe. FCC rules distinguish informational from commercial texts, and consent still matters. Ask an attorney.
Does a hair salon get an online ordering link?
Google's policy says hair salons might allow customers to book appointments but are not eligible for online ordering links.
Can AI write my review replies?
It can draft them. Personalize and approve each one.
